1998–2001 Historical Milestone: Building Rhode Island’s First Searchable MLS Database (RILiving.com)
Our earliest major web application milestone (1998–2001): when home buyers relied on two-line newspaper classifieds and weeks-old grocery checkout booklets, Maureen Salvatore pitched the Rhode Island State MLS on a live searchable database website. We won the contract, secured RILiving.com, and built the state’s first online real estate search engine before transitioning full-time into national web hosting and data center leadership around 2001–2002.
Engineered & Operated for Real-World Production
A static HTML brochure could never handle thousands of continuously changing residential and rental listings across 39 Rhode Island cities and towns. The assignment required a live relational database, structured listing ingestion, dynamic photo association, and parameterized search queries.
The Commercial & Technical Challenge
In 1998, residential real estate discovery suffered from a four-to-six-week print publishing lag. Buyers had no way to filter active inventory by town, price bracket, or property characteristics online, and brokers had no digital channel to showcase multi-photo listings in real time.

- Relational MLS database schema normalizing property attributes, listing statuses, municipality codes, and broker office records.
- Dynamic server-side query engine enabling multi-parameter filtering by town, price range, bedroom/bathroom count, and rental vs. sale classification.
- Automated digital photography pipeline linking property images directly to MLS listing numbers—eliminating weeks-old print booklet latency.
- After building and operating the original platform during its foundational years (1998–2001), we exited our involvement around 2002 as our executive leadership at Adgrafix.com, Hosting.com, and physical data center operations became our full-time focus.
